:: in the summer. in the city.

oh! blog.
i have not forgotten thee.
but i've been on a date.
a long one.
with my city.

nearly all my days have been spent in its streets.
among its people.
feeling its energy.
and i've been so full up-to-the-top with love for it---
i've had little time for anything else.

i haven't even taken my camera.
for how could i hold it while juggling--
fresh bakery breads.
and my yoga mat.
and my cutting board for the community soup prep.
and my noodles served off a rad chick's front porch.
and my fresh veggies from market?

it's been glorious to be here.
to be a part of it all.

but i'll be around.
soon enough, friends.
i'll be around.

in the meantime--
if you're fortunate enough to live here--
i'll see you on the street.

such a lovely peace.

chickens run free on my street.
so i precariously leave my gate open--
hoping they'll enter in and stay awhile.
when that dismally fails--
i chase them down the sidewalk with a camera.

i love this city.

beauty in the urban garden.

Friday, August 13, 2010

i was inspired to garden.
and the process has been such an incredible journey.
almost therapeutic.
and now.
i've started on another little venture.
another blog-ish space.
my drawing board.
a sporadic place where i can toss my thoughts.
a poem or two.
or a single image that strikes me.
it isn't organized.
or thought out.
it's the alter ego of this beloved space.
it's so different from the beautiful blog community we have here.
it's not a journal.
it's a scrapbook.
little pieces of everything.
i'll be both places.

enjoy.

(it is that way)

A great city is that which has the greatest men and women.
If it be a few ragged huts-- it is still the greatest city in the whole world.

:: heading into the august break...

{images via weheartit}

it's still summer.
of that i am most assuredly sure.
and most blessedly thrilled.

but fall is in sight.
winter is some-what tangible.
and that urges me to pause.
to stop.
to listen & look.
instead of speak.
to drink deep of the warmth and beauty--
of the season.

so i've decided to join susannah's
august break.
a month of posting one photo per weekday.
with no words.
just the image.
letting the reader take from it what they will.

my favorite rule of it all is that there are no rules.
so i'll be stopping by with things to say--
a time or two.

but mostly--
enjoy the quiet of the photos.
which- as they say-
are worth thousands of words in themselves.

happy summer!
happy august!
