i'm making this incredible cake.
using a bowl of juicy.
ripe.
midnight moon plums.

i was drawn.
immediately.
to their deep color.
and their lunar name.

it's fitting.
that i arrange them.
atop a sweet batter.
on a clear night.
under a half moon.

blaze lovely.

you burn the life into me.


and i cannot get enough.


even when i feel you heavy in the air.

hanging damp on my limbs.


i want to soak in your rays.

wade in your shine.

dance in your fire.


as beads of sweat drip down my back.

across my nose.

behind my ear.


i relish.


you warm me.

you darken my skin.

you heat my very soul.


& make me whole again.

so.

my plans changed.

as plans often do.

and i didn't make it to the campground this past weekend.

however.

never one to let 4 days off go to waste--

i found a little grove in a nearby county park that substituted nicely.


an afternoon among the trees,

birds,

chipmunks,

swans,

and foxes (!)

was just what the doctor ordered.

i'm considering the echoing bird song.
the wave-like rush of tree leaves.
tree branches.
the low buzz of fly.
and bee.
the silky embrace of the breeze.
the comfort of the wind's whisper.
the lush blanket of grass blades between my toes.
the hot blush of sun on skin.

i'm savoring my little eden.
the beauty.
glory.
majesty.

of being outdoors.
