:: ice ice baby...

there's this heatwave.
and it makes my hair frizz.
and my lip balm melt.
and my steering wheel capable of inducing 3rd degree burns.

but i kind of love it.
the warmth.
the bright.
it makes me feel like i'm a part of something bigger than me.

the only snag is that warm coffee just isn't doing it at 90+ degrees.
so--rather than go without--
i got to google-researching.
and i came across this recipe for
cold-brewed coffee.

it does require a little bit of pre-planning.
but--
as i sit here with the iced delight in front of me--
i can say with full confidence
that it's worth every sip.

brew a batch if you're looking for a hot-coffee alternative in this heat.

i added honey to mine.

and i wasn't sorry about it.

  8. Iced coffee is a beautiful thing in the summer! If you like this, you would absolutely ADORE the Greek Nescafe Frappe and the prep time is only 2 minutes. Check out the recipe here (you'll have to scroll down a bit): http://www.nescafe.com/worldwide/en/nescafe/Pages/Nescafe+recipes.aspx

  9. I love that you can say your steering wheel burns you and that you still love the heat! It's currently so cold where I live that I don't think I'd mind my car burning me either!

I also absolutely love toddy! or cold brewed coffee! Did you know that it also removes a lot of the acids that aggravate some people's stomachs? It's the way to drink coffee, even if you want to drink it hot! xo

  18. iiii love the heat, too... and so agree that it doesn't combine well with hot coffee! my solutions have involved 1) not drinking my coffee on the porch or 2) hitting starbucks for a little iced sugar and caffeine drink that makes me feel gross later. but your recipe solution looks so fabulous! i believe i'll have to try it!

  19. I am not loving the heat. I'm being a bit of a baby about it! It's no fun in the city, standing under ground waiting for the subway while you drip sweat. Ugh :)

  22. Yum!
Coffee is....ah. I'm speechless. Total adoration.
And hey, if you have a blender you can make icy coffee drinks really quick!
I just put coffee, ice, maybe some water (or milk, whatever), sweetener, and some flavorings if I want them, like chocolate, mint, coconut, anything. It's soooo good!

  23. Last year I used to brew a whole pot of coffee & then stick it in the frigde. In the mornings I would wake up & have a cold glass of ice coffee on my balcony. It was so perfect for the summer.
