i've been slowly starting yoga again.
doing my best to work up the motivation in the morning to roll out my mat.
even before breakfast & coffee.
which--if you know me at all-- is really saying something.
but i must admit--
i feel better when i stretch out.
when i breathe.
when i start my day with this mental and physical exercise.
i love this time to think.
and not think.
to be thankful.
i know i won't be perfect at my routine.
but i don't think that's the point.
i'm just enjoying the baby-steps.
how have you been starting your summer mornings?

This was such an amazingly lovely post.
ReplyDeleteMy mornings are not nearly as divine.
These drawings are wonderful...I start my summer mornings looking for coffee...I think you are off to a much better start :) xx
ReplyDeleteGreat paintings! I really need to start a summer routine. You are inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get back into yoga! It is such a wonderful way to start the day. I just need the little extra motivation to get out of bed half an hour early and do it! Good for you for making the time!
ReplyDeleteI need your drive! I'd love to start my mornings this way, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd these illustrations are fabulous!
Good for you Alfie! I'm not doing too well with a summer routine yet. Too many visitors (yay!) ... I hope to get back to my morning 30 minutes with Jillian Michaels soon :)

that sounds like a fantastic way to start the day. i need to get my butt out of bed earlier so i can start my day off with a workout. i am soo not a morning person, so this is so easy feat.
ReplyDeletei love the art!! i have a yoga video but ive never really gotten into it. maybe i will now though!! it does sounds like a wonderful way to start a morning off
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled upon your blog and absolutely love it. Your photos are AMAZING! xo
ReplyDeletei had a delightful yoga-every-day phase a few months back and it was fabulous and refreshing! i usually start my mornings first with a hot cup of coffee, a little wake up fresh air outside romp with my fluffypup, and some laptop time. my fav way to gear up slooowly. im the worst morning person ever.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fabulous!!!! way to go girl! keep it up!
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been meaning to start up yoga again since the beginning of the year. It's reallly such a great way to start the day. At the moment I'm starting my day with green tea, instead of coffee (very small baby steps)...
ReplyDeletei love yoga! i need to take more time for myself in the mornings, because it is such a peaceful time. and it's so true -- when i do these things i feel SO much better. a deep breathe can make a world of difference. thanks for the good reminder. xo!
ReplyDeleteI have really been wanting to try yoga!!I start off my summer mornings with going to swim team- at 7:45 am! It's hard, but its great excersize.
ReplyDeleteI don't do Yoga but I power walk daily in the woods. Recently I began a morning meditative walk with deep breathing. I find that I feel more balanced during the day after the morning walk. So now I walk twice daily - mornings and evenings, besides that I walk everywhere;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great way to start the day! I wish I could do this in the mornings... I literally get ready in 15mins and run out the door. Maybe I should start nightly yoga...
ReplyDeleteMy morning routines consist of frantically getting ready for work and out the door! Your way sounds much better! Might have to give it a try :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been snoozing the alarm WAAAY too much lately. It must go off 5 times until I get out of bed. Abbey Cat is curled up at my feet and Grant is slumbering away (I wish I only needed 5 minutes to get up and out the door in the morning!), and it's been impossible to wake up and get out of bed from this silent, tranquil place.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could start getting out of bed and watching the World Cup! I told myself I was going to, but it's just not happening. I'm not a morning person at all.
I've been intrigued by yoga for years now - keep meaning to give it a go as I'm sure it would be wonderful for both body and soul.
ReplyDeleteI've just this week started swimming again - trying to go 3 times a week at lunch. So good to get a desk break and come back energised.
I also feel very strongly that when I swim I take much better care of myself - less junk food, less caffeine etc. Much more aware of what is good/right for me overall.
Well done you and hope you keep it up.
xx
good for you!
ReplyDeletei used to wake up and run every morning, and then i got out of the habit.....i miss how great i felt...and the shape i was in.......so i think i'll start again :)
xo
by the way, i left you an award on my blog!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful way to start your mornings... and not get lost in the hustle and bustle of this world!
ReplyDeletei love the gratitude that comes with yoga as well. i also love these drawings of yoga poses, thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteI love the art for this! Now that it's lighter, and warmer, in the mornings I have began running again before work. Mind you, I work at 7 am in a town 30 minutes away so I must get up at 5 am. Not always so easy to do. When my alarm goes off in the morning I have to jump out of bed before I can talk myself out of it. Once I'm out on my run I feel no sense of regret, it's just getting myself out of bed then out the door that is the challenge. Good for you Alfie! Oh, and thanks for your book recommendation! I cannot WAIT for the movie!! EEEE! I'm so excited!
